Feeding the Pigs from the Train

The Falls and the Plantation House in Kauai

21 February 2022- Kauai

We have to be in the Princess theater at 8 so we ate in the Lido. I got an omelet, a roasted tomato and a half a bagel. (And apple juice)

Phyllis temporarily couldn't find her medallion, but we got to the theater in a timely fashion after Phyllis pointed out to me where the ramp was to get there. We got red #!. I have defaulted to wearing the non-95 masks because with the 95 masks my glasses keep falling off.

The very annoying man who also uses a scooter (but he can walk much better than I can) was also on our tour (he was also on the Maui tour), so I tried to get to the elevator quickly so that I would get to the bus first. And we did. I had a reserved seat in the front and it was a better view than on the Maui bus. It was a big kneeling bus

When he came out - they put him on the other bus. Our bus left first to go to the waterfall.

I wasn't going to get out at the waterfall, but it looked like there was a nice level sidewalk so I climbed down and scootered over - it was an underwhelming waterfall.

I went across the street to see the river - this was a much rougher sidewalk. I was too busy holding onto the scooter to take a photo of it.

Then we went to the plantation house for the train ride. This was the place that J and I went where they called me a 'special auntie' and we had the train ride and the luau with the fire dancing.

Anyway, I got on the train and right after I sat down on the left side, I remembered that we should be on the right side to see all the pigs run along with the train.

There was a newborn calf which had only been born about 15 minutes before (on the other side of the train). This time they stopped and gave us tortillas to feed the pigs (with strict instructions not to hand feed the pigs or we would get bitten) and also the horse and donkey.

Phyllis got out and fed the pigs. I stayed on the train but went over to the other side to watch. A mother pig with 4 to 6 tiny piglets came over to the train. The little piglets were about the size of a small cat. The piglets were chased back into the grass by the bigger pigs. I got some photos.

We went into the shops and bought some stuff. I got children's books for the great grands. And then we got back on the bus and we were back in time for lunch. Which was pizza. I had two pieces of cheese pizza and a cookie.

When we got to George's group at 5:30. -- did I tell you that Brenda broke her ankle in the Princess theater and they took them off the ship and they are flying home -- anyway it was obvious that none of them were going to the dining room. They were wearing shorts. So I made a reservation at Sabatini's under the impression that it was not an extra price restaurant. But I was wrong.

Anyway we ate there. I'm not a really a fan of "real" Italian cooking. We had an appetizer

and then I had something like a caprese salad except the cheese was

Then I had Porcini Mushroom Risotto

which meant that I didn't have to deal with noodles - Phyllis had spaghetti. Then I had lemon rosemary chicken with asparagus and mashed potatoes. I couldn't eat all of anything. I just ate the asparagus and potatoes and not much of the chicken - although everything was really good.

For dessert we both had Rocher which was described as ice cream sealed in milk chocolate. And I had a Cappuccino. I never drink coffee but I do like coffee drinks. I didn't even eat all of the chocolate dessert. It was just too much food.

Everything is so green in there! :) (Still mostly white and grey in here)

Hawaii is very green even in February - although there are places in Hawaii where they get snow. At the high altitudes, and it isn't so green up there.
